BHAWK — Brad Halling American Whiskey Ko.
Veteran-owned distillery and restaurant in Southern Pines. Serious cocktails, a shaded patio, and a living museum honoring military service.
Brad Halling is a retired Special Forces soldier who lost his left leg in the Battle of Mogadishu — the mission behind the movie Black Hawk Down. He and his wife Jessica, also a retired Army officer with 29 years of service, built BHAWK from the ground up on Yadkin Road. It opened in 2023 as a distillery, cocktail bar, restaurant, and event space.
The flagship bourbon is Sergeant’s Valor — smooth with notes of oak, caramel, and tobacco. Madam Colonel is Jessica’s line of premium vodkas and gins. The food is casual-upscale: the BLT and burger both get high marks.
At the heart of the campus is the Gratitude Room — a living museum honoring military service. Tours and tastings available. Reservations recommended for dinner. The back patio on a sunny afternoon is one of the best spots in the Sandhills.
